Syrian rebels: General responsible for chemical attack killed

Arab media reported that the Free Syrian Army claimed they killed General Muhammad Aslan, who was in charge of the chemical attack in the outskirts of Damascus two weeks ago. The rebels presented a photo Aslan's dead body, however no other sources confirmed the report.

Assad's brother ordered gas attack in Syria after quarrel


The chemical weapons attack on Aug. 21 in Damascus was ordered by Maher al-Assad, the younger brother of Syrian president Bashar al -Assad, after a quarrel, reported the Guardian. The newspaper cited sources formerly within the Syrian military. Maher, who heads the feared Republican Guard and army's Fourth Armored Division, reacted after Bashar criticised the lack of progress in Damascus, ordering artillery from the 155th Brigade to fire nerve gas. .
