Iran MP Calls For Sending 'Volunteers' to Syria To Help Al-Asad Government 'Destroy' Israel

Tehran Mehr News Agency in Persian at 1143 GMT on 6 May reported that member of the Iranian parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Ali Reza Jokar has called for "volunteers" to be sent to Syria to help the government of President Basher al-Assad "destroy" Israel.

"The Zionist regime's war with the Islamic world has started. We should not leave the innocent people of Syria alone," Mehr quoted Jokar as saying in reference to Israel's recent strikes on Syria.

"At a time when the European Union has collected all weapons and brought them to Syria, Turkey and Qatar continue to help terrorists and betrayals are going on, there is no reason for standing by. The volunteers should go [to Syria] and start helping," Jokar said.

He went on to say that the "front fighting against the Zionist regime" should be reinforced and "the Zionist regime must be destroyed."
