Hopefully, an international peace conference
for Syria will take place in September, Russian Presidential Representative for
the Middle East Peace Process, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said.
"Suggestions have been made that the
conference should take place in September, before [a session of] the UN General
Assembly and we hope that will be done so," he told Interfax on Thursday.
Russia is ready to attend this conference any
time, "even tomorrow", Bogdanov said. "Alas, there is so far no
such preparedness on the part of the Syrian opposition," the high-ranking
diplomat added.
